In 2006 our company was awarded the first “Minister’s Award for Transportation Innovation – Overall Award of Excellence In Transportation Innovation”. The project, Highway 734:22 PEMBINA RIVER BANK STABILIZATION AND WORKSHOP, showcased the benefits of bank stabilization using environmentally supportive and sustainable solutions that reduced initial construction and long-term maintenance costs.. This environmentally harmonious showcase of design options represented a significant shift in Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation’s erosion control design philosophy.

Farlinger & Associates Ltd. was proud to be involved in the NORTH SASKATCHEWAN RIVER CABLE CROSSING PROTECTION AND REPLACEMENT project. This project received an Award of Merit: Water Resources/Energy Production from the Consulting Engineers of Alberta. The Innovative design solutions enabled EPCOR Transmission Inc. to extend the life of electrical power cables that run beneath the waters of the North Saskatchewan River.

In 2015 Farlinger & Associates received the Alberta Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association’s Environmental Award – Category 3: Mitigation Measures Use or Development. The project, ELBOW RIVER CROSSING, involved using special considerations and alternate non-standard protocols to restore the riverbed and surrounding banks over a pipeline, while minimizing environmental impacts to Weaselhead Natural Environment Park in Calgary AB. This project was a successful engagement with the TsuuT’ina First Nation, the City of Calgary, Weaselhead/Glenmore Preservation Society and ATCO Pipelines.
